This Spring/Summer is full of scrumptious trends, so tasty we want to eat them! From stripes to crochet, denim to mixing and matching prints, it’s all in one big pot that we can’t wait to stir!
Click through for 7 Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Trends we’re actually drooling over!
1. Stripes

Can you say “stripe mayhem”!? Not only are stripes hot this season but the more you wear in one outfit, the better! Seriously, if you love stripes there’s no better time to indulge in them – different colors, opposite directions, you name it, it’s all good for this spring/summer season.
Tip: To pull off a stripe-crazy outfit you must wear it with confidence!
2. Nude

The COLOR nude is hot hot hot this season. In particular, head-to-toe nude outfits can be very sexy.
Tip: Make sure you get a shade that suits you (i.e. doesn’t wash you out).
3. Wide-Leg Trousers

I’m usually a skinny-leg kinda gal but wide-leg is definitely over-taking that trend this season. Cut is key when it comes to wide-leg trousers as they can either be extremely flattering or extremely unforgiving on girls with a little “junk in the trunk” (i.e. me!).
Tip: If you have a pear-shaped figure, go for a low-rise, hipster cut with a flare that starts around the hips (like in the middle image above) to avoid a key-hole shape.
4. Denim

Denim is no exception to “the more the merrier” theme this season. All-out, head-to-toe, we’re encouraged to wear as much of it as we can in one outfit. I’m just gonna say that it’s tricky to pull that off.
Tip: Mix different shades of denim or break it up with prints or other fabrics.
5. Mixing Prints

I love love loooove this “mix and DON’T match” trend! It’s almost liberating as it allows us to throw on literally any print with any print and be on trend. Magic!
Tip: Enjoy it while it lasts!
6. Crochet, Fringe, Etc.

My heart melts when it comes to crochets and other intricate fabrics. This trend is perfect for the boho-chic gal who loves to be comfortable in her fringes, tassels, and crochet dress!
Tip: See our 7 step post on How To Dress Boho-Chic for tips!
7. Long Transparent Skirts

Feminine, sexy, elegant, glamorous…This trend has it all!
Tip: Showing a glimpse of your legs is sexy, revealing your underwear is not.

I’m really digging the wide leg trousers, nude clothing and stripes, but I don’t feel personally I could pull off a transparent skirt or mixed patters. Maybe these examples aren’t everyday realistic and more runway. Would love to see an everyday look that incorporates the mixed patterns or transparent skirt. Any suggestions?

i love using light weight fabric for this season for sheer skirts and dresses. and mixing prints will be a challenge for me but i’m willing to take it!
I agree, the ‘mixing prints’ trend is a tough one to pull off so I’ll be posting a How-To on it (thanks to you and Kiki!;))

A how-to guide on mixing prints would be really helpful and I bet a lot of us would benefit from it! Great solution Julia!
I’m nervous… I’m trying the mixed prints tomorrow for the first time ever. I think I’m playing it safe… polka dots and floral. *fingers crossed*
I am DEFINITELY a fan of mixing prints!!
